Youth Citizenship and Empowerment Training

On Saturday 13th July,  the group of secondary girls supported by the Foundation, took part in an all day event at the Zambezia VIP Hotel in Quelimane.

The main aims of the event were to inspire young people to reflect and act.

Key themes touched upon include:

Citzenship

Integrity

Advocacy

Social Justice

This event was inspired by Dilson Matos, President of ASOACO (Association of Youth and Friends of the Community). It was attended by NGO representatives, university academics and professors, members of AMME (the Association of Women in Education), ARZ (the Association of Girls’ Groups in Zambezia) and others.

According to reports from one of the event participants, the group of schoolgirls supported by the Fundação Zalala (Vânia, Liliana, Antônia ,  Esquitora, Noémia, Zaurina and Latia  made lively contributions and were the STARS of the show!

At the end of the event, it was agreed that similar events should be organised in local communities so as to inspire and mobilise other young people to become active agents and advocates in their communities.
