In order to ensure the proper use and adequate maintenance of the two new water points provided by Fathers and Kids Camping, a Dubai-based group who came to Idugo in April 2024, a Water Maintenance Committee was established and a group of trainers from the District Health Department came to Idugo to provide training for the members. One of the main functions of this Committee is to establish a timetable and collect a small fee – 5 meticais – from users to be used to pay for repairs and for a guard. Another key function of the Committee is to spread awareness of the importance of personal hygiene, such as washing clothes, plates and so on. Support will be provided by the Director of the Maternity Centre and the members of the Health Committee. Open community talks will be provided on a regular basis, thereby enhancing the health benefits of this new facility on the island.
