Site visit to new Water Project on Idugo

In close collaboration with the Fundação Zalala, Vahid Fotuhi, Director of Blue Forest, will be bringing a group of 43 people from Dubai next month to participate in the construction of a borehole on the island of Idugo. The borehole, will have a submersible solar-powered pump channeling water to a tank on the top of a 6 meter tall tower. It will be located close to Namilenge school on the island of Idugo providing school children with access to clean drinking water daily. It will also benefit several thousand inhabitants of the island who currently only have access to traditional water wells, which are exposed to impurities and regularly run dry.

During his visit, Vahid presented the project to a group of community representatives, who expressed their strong support and enthusiasm.

Ten families, each with 2 to 3 children of different ages, will spend several days at Zalala Beach in late March and will be travelling daily to Idugo to assist in the last stages of the construction and to  experience daily life on the island first hand and to make contact with local people. The Fundação team will organise various activities during their visit, including games, local cooking, learning about farming methods and so on.
