At the beginning of February 2026, officials and qualified staff from the Provincial Health Department arrived on the Island of Idugo to oversee the delivery and installation of furnishings and equipment for the new hospital on the island. Members of the Fundação staff were present to oversee and facilitate their work.
The new hospital centre will provide general medical services, including consultations, diagnostic tests and vaccinations
The centre incudes toilet and washing facilities for men and women.
The GP centre is now ready to be launched. However, the inauguration ceremony to be presided over by the Japanese Ambassador has been delayed due to bad weather and other circumstances. Originally scheduled for March 2026, the ceremony is now scheduled in May. Meanwhile, the inhabitants of Idugo are eagerly anticipating the full operationalisation of this long-awaited facility on the island.
