The Foundation Director, Angela and Catherine Mackenzie, our new Trustee who is an expert in forestry and land management joined a team from the Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) on their research mission collecting data to provide insights into the condition of the mangroves along the coast. This has been commissioned by Blue Forest, a Dubai-based company that seeks to protect the mangrove, thereby increasing the resilience of coastal communities and their vulnerability to coastal erosion.
Noca, an expert in mangrove studies in Mozambique is leading the research and he agreed to allow Angela and Catherine to join the team to witness the research process. Idugo has been selected as the location for the implementation of pilot projects aimed at protecting local livelihoods as well as protecting the mangroves.
