Supinho and Idugo Youth of the Children’s Parliament address district and provincial law makers

Between April and June 2025, 50 young girls and boys from Idugo and Supinho took part in a refresher training of the Children’s Parliament (the first took place in 2019).

The main objectives of the training were to reinforce the capacities of the members of the sub-nucleus of the Children’s Parliament of Supinho and Idugo, to enhance their awareness and understanding of their rights and duties and to support their full and active participation in civil society.

The training culminated in a session of Questions and Answers which took place on the 28th June 2025 in the Grand Hall of the Provinical Assembly of Zambezia. Those present at the event included the Quelimane District Administrator, other district Directors, community leaders, civil society representatives and members of the Quelimane Municipality.

Children spoke out courageously about their experiences of abuse and violation of their rights by teachers and others in their communities.

Their accusations will be investigated at the local level by community leaders and promises have been made that appropriate actions will be taken to address these serious complaints.
