Pottery-making was a longstanding tradition on the island of Idugo. It has always been practised by women on the island. When Zalala Beach Lodge was established, we came into contact with women potters and we commissioned them to produce clay pots to be placed in the grounds of the Lodge. The women also produced small clay pots as containers for the jam produced by the members of the jam-making group. The Foundation is currently exploring with women ways of strengthening this activity on the island.
