On 1st April the start of a 3-month sewing training for 15 selected girls and boys from Idugo was officially launched. Dona Manuela, who did the training in Supinho will remain on the island in order to closely supervise the training. Alongside the training for those new to the activity, Manuela will provide additional training of trainers to the 5 young people from Idugo who previously completed the course in Supinho to enable them to provide ongoing support to the new trainees. This will mean that after she has left, the group will be wholly self-sufficient. Parents, teachers and local leaders were all invited to attend the handing of the materials for the training. There was much excitement and enthusiasm amongst all those present.
