Whilst awaiting the completion of the Health Centre, the Zalala Foundation is continuing to support the provision of basic health care and access to medicines for the people of Idugo. The contract between the Foundation and the District Health Department has just been renewed for another year to fill the gap created by the lack of any health facilities on the island. As part of the agreement, they will provide detailed records of the most pressing health needs currently faced. Once the new health centre has been completed, these records will be very useful for future service planning.
Meanwhile, mothers and children still have to wait on the dusty ground to be seen by a nurse.
