On the 30th April 2022, the new project entitled ‘Developing Girls’ Leadership and Independence’ was launched in Quelimane. This project, co-funded by Irish Aid and the Zalala Foundation is the follow-up to last year’s Irish Aid funded programme ‘Giving Girls a Voice’. Based on the successful outcome of last year’s programme, Irish Aid decided to continue supporting the Zalala Foundation’s work aimed at empowering young girls in Idugo and Supinho. The cornerstone of this year’s programme are Girls’ Clubs, to be facilited by the graduates of last year’s programme. 7 Clubs – 2 in Supinho and 5 in Idugo will providing education, awareness-raising and creative fun for girls and boys and help them to develop their leadership capacities.
Detailed plans were developed at the first meeting of the Advisory Forum and their implementation will commence in early May.
