A new multi-purpose community centre was officially launched last week with a traditional ceremony to bless the ground where it will be built. The centre will be used for community meetings, the storage of sewing machines and materials for the young girl’s sewing group and a host of other activities. The project has been funded by the Zalala Foundation with extensive community participation. Over the last few weeks, bricks, stones, sand and other construction materials were transported by boat from Supinho and carried to the construction site with the help of men, women and children and the work of construction is now underway!
